Athletic Training Services


The Andrews Institute Sports Medicine Outreach department, supported by Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and Baptist Health Care, provides certified athletic trainers and team physicians to all public high schools in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties, as well as Pensacola Christian College, Pensacola Christian Academy, Chipola College and the University of West Florida. Andrews Institute certified athletic trainers work with coaches, administrators and event planners at each school to establish emergency action plans, provide education and promote awareness of sports medicine care and preparedness on topics including heat illness and sports concussions. Our Sports Medicine Outreach team places a great emphasis on continuing to grow relationships with area emergency medical services to provide best practices and preparedness for collaborative care.

The Andrews Institute Sports Medicine Outreach department provides the following services at no cost to the area schools it serves:

  • Daily medical coverage, injury evaluations/management
  • Direct accessibility to athletic trainers
  • Annual pre-participation physical exams
  • Concussion baseline testing, on-field post-injury concussion evaluation and care
  • Recommendations and guidance for post-injury follow-up care
  • Student-Athlete Injury Clinic during the fall for student athletes
  • Education and collaboration with schools on emergency protocols and preparedness
  • Education seminars
