Self-Care Tips to Enhance You
Take care of yourself is a phrase we often hear but may often fail to do when we’re so busy taking care of loved ones, co-workers, friends and family. We can often neglect taking proper care of our own mental, physical and spiritual well-being. Here are several ways you can spend just a few minutes each day or week reconnecting more with yourself.
Self-Care Tips for the Mind:
· Create a compliments file. Track the wonderful things people say about you and file it away to read later on a day when you need uplifting.
· Perform a mini de-clutter. Recycle or throw out three things from your desk, closet or shelf. The act of physical organization helps your mind feel less cluttered.
· Go offline for an hour. Switch your electronic devices to off or silent mode. Free yourself from the constant notifications and focus on one task or just enjoy the time without disruptions.
Self-Care Tips for the Body:
· Give your body 10 minutes of intentional attention. Go for a walk. Stretch your body from head to toe. Perform an effective, 10-minute physical activity that brings you joy and is good for your body.
· Make one small dietary change and stick to that change for a week. It can be something simple like drinking an additional glass of water each day to help increase your daily hydration intake.
· Find your senses with scent. Try a fragrance that relaxes you like lavender or peppermint. Keep it handy and take a whiff when you find yourself becoming tense.
Self-Care Tips for the Soul:
· Arrange a self-date. Spend an hour alone doing something that nourishes you, like visiting a garden, reading a book or talking with a friend.
· Do a good deed for someone else. Help someone in need even if it’s a small task or giving a compliment to a stranger.
· Gain positive feedback. Ask three trusted people to tell you what they like about you or share what they feel are your strengths. Return the favor to them.
Be sure to take care of yourself this busy season. We hope these suggestions will help you take action to help enhance your mind, body and soul. If you still aren't feeling your best, consider making an appointment with a Baptist primary care physician using EasySchedule.com.
